1.8x0.9m Hazel Hurdle
Our 1800 x 900mm Hazel Hurdles are made by craftsmen, skilled in coppicing, using entirely natural materials. The panels are hand woven and ideal for forming a natural looking backdrop to any landscaping scheme.
Hazel Hurdles, being an entirely natural product, will have a limited life which will be dependent on exposure but generally you could expect between 6-10 years. Spraying with linseed oil will help preserve them naturally, but is by no means essential, as replacing them helps preserve the ancient coppicing craft.
A more natural way to help hurdles stay firm is to grow climbers, such as clematis up them which will intertwine with the rails and help disperse the rain.
Hurdles can be fitted to a frame which will help longevity and our 47 x 75mm Treated Carcasing is ideal for this. If framing a 900mm high (3ft) panel 1 cross rails would be required. Hurdles can be either screwed to the frame or secured with cable ties or galvanised wire. The framed 900mm (3ft) hurdles can then be fixed to our 1500mm high, 100 x 100mm Timber Fence Posts, unframed hurdles can also be fixed to timber posts.
