These pressure treated rustic railway style sleepers are easier to work with than reclaimed original sleepers as you would expect from a new sleeper and they generally have sawn flat edges top and bottom so they can be stacked on one another to create the retaining wall or vegetable bed but with the bark left on the edges they give a wonderful natural appearance.

Please note that all our sleepers are sourced from within Europe and the UK.  These visually stunning cuts of timber are versatile as well as practical and hardwearing.

During the treatment process it is very common for sleepers to have banding marks and bearer marks. Their rustic appearance fits into the garden whether being used as a retaining wall, next to an indian sandstone natural paving patio or terrace, as steps, as Decking, raised vegetable beds, as an edging to a cultivated Turf lawn or for creating edges for decorative aggregates such as plum, blue or green Slate chippings in all areas of the garden.

The timber is pressure treated a dark brown but after several months of external seasoning the colour matures giving it the appearance of having been there for years.

Our treated rustic sleeper are an ideal alternative to reclaimed sleepers which can contain tar and creosote that can leak and smell on hot days plus the fact of their size makes them far more manageable. reclaimed sleepers also have legal implications as to where they can be used whereas the new treated sleepers uses are limitless.
